2019-20 Clinical Training Team
Mental Health Practicum
This practicum offers students in psychology, social work, and marriage and family therapy programs experience in community based mental health, with a strong emphasis on current empirically validated treatment approaches within child and adolescent mental health. The practicum is designed to prepare graduate students via clinical experiences, instruction, and supervision for transition from student to professional within the field of adolescent mental health. Students will develop knowledge of intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP) offered at Casa Pacifica within our
Camino a Casa program. Students will actively participate in a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of group therapy and collaborative treatment planning including utilization reviews supporting the need for continued mental health treatment needs of children and adolescents and discharge planning.
Applicant Requirements:
To be considered for our 2024-2025 Practicum Training year, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in either a social work (MSW), psychology (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) graduate program or MFT program
- Have a class schedule that allows for a 3-day-per week, 20-hour practicum
- MFT and Social Work students: September through April
- Psychology Doctoral Students: September through June
It is recommended that your complete package is received in our office by February 22, 2024. Our interviews will begin in March of 2024.
