Santa Barbara County SELPA (Special Education Local Planning Area), in collaboration with The Santa Barbara County School Districts, ensures the provision of Mental Health Services to deserving children who need additional support to ensure their rights to a public education. Through an IEP (Individualized Education Program) the child is provided a full continuum of services to include the following: individual counseling, group counseling, parent counseling, social work, Center for Therapeutic Education (CTE) programs, MH School-based Day Treatment programs, and residential placements in a nonpublic school (NPS).
Casa Pacifica contracts with the Santa Barbara County SELPA to provide all the above Mental Health Services in classrooms and the community as prescribed and directed by the IEP process and Individual Service Agreements that are agreed upon by the school teachers, counselors, therapists, and the child’s parents. Casa Pacifica provides Licensed Clinicians in CTE classrooms as daily counselors and therapists who do individual and group therapy.
All access to Santa Barbara SELPA services are through the school district where a child is located. Through the IEP process parents/guardians can request services to aide their child in taking full advantage of the education that they are entitled to.
