Intensive Services Foster Care provides focused help to one emotionally challenged child at a time in the stable foster home environment of a caring adult or couple. Designed to break the cycle of multiple out-of-home placements through intensive services in the foster home, ISFC foster parents support and nurture needy children and youth and act as a bridge between the child and their return to their family of origin, strengthening the community.
Intensive Services Foster Care uses a team approach in providing services to the youth in a foster home environment. The team consists of a Social Worker, Clinician and Support Specialist providing mental health interventions. The mission is to help foster youth stabilize their emotional behaviors to be able to reunify with their family of origin or to help in that transition to a more permanent living situation. Referrals to the program are from Ventura County Human Services Agency. The Intensive Services Foster Care team works collaboratively with the social worker.
Foster Parents are recruited from the community and are screened through a certification and training process. They must participate in 60 hours of training specializing in mental health understanding and interventions.
