Paul Harris Fellow Awards Presented at Care For Kids Golf Classic

Camarillo, CA – The 24th annual Care For Kids Golf Classic took place on Monday, July 18th, at Spanish Hills Country Club and honored and remembered Bill Kohagen for his contributions to helping others in the community.  Advanced Motion Controls served as the Title Sponsor of the tournament, which was organized and hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Camarillo, and again co-chaired by Kevin Nunn and Kevin Estes who were assisted by their Care For Kids Golf Classic committee. The annual tournament raises funds for Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families and its programs serving abused, neglected, and at-risk children and families, along with other Rotary Foundation charities. Golfers enjoyed the friendly competition of a shotgun tournament with winners in gross and low-net flights, and several on-course competitions including long drive and closest-to-the-hole contests, as well as fabulous hole-in-one prizes on the 3-par holes. A cocktail reception and awards dinner followed the tournament round, and featured raffle prize opportunities and a live auction.

This year the Rotary Clubs of Camarillo took the opportunity to present two Paul Harris Fellow Awards, which recognize individuals who make valuable contributions to their communities, during the evenings’ awards festivities– one to Matt Kohagen, honoree Bill Kohagen’s son, recognizing his own contributions to community service, and to Juliana Thiessen, Casa Pacifica’s Development & Events Coordinator. The Rotary Clubs of Camarillo will now make a $1,000 contribution in each recipients’ name to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Casa Pacifica is proud of Juliana and her dedication to serve our vulnerable youth and support our community families, and we congratulate her on this recognition! The Paul Harris Fellow Award was established in 1957 and the Rotary International website indicates Juliana and Matt are in some amazing company as many notable figures have been named in the past as Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Jonas Salk.
