Enegren Brewing Company Wins the 2017 “Best in Fest” Brewery Title for the 24th Annual Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival!

Camarillo, CA May 3, 2017 – On Sunday, April 30th, the 2017 “Best in Fest” Brewery Competition of the Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival (which will take place Sunday, June 4th) was held in Agoura Hills at The Lab Brewing Company inside the Twisted Oak Tavern. JC Lombardo, “Best in Fest” chairman, and Curtis Taylor of HopHeadSaid.com coordinated the competition which pitted eight local craft breweries’ finest brews against each other in a blind competition judged by four brew experts – Erin Peters, columnist and beer blogger, also known as “The Beer Goddess;” Lisa “Monie” Wickenden, beer specialist for the Wine Warehouse; Jorge Alem, co-owner of the Ojai Beverage Company; Jason Hendricks, General Manager of Barrelhouse 101; and Kevin Pratt, who is a Certified Cicerone® and head brewer at the Santa Barbara Brewing Company. Kevin is the second highest ranked BJCP judge in the United States.

Participants in the 2017 Wine, Food & Brew Festival “Best in Fest” brew competition included:  Enegren Brewing Company, Institution Ale Company, Five Threads Brewing Company, MadeWest Brewing Company, The Lab Brewing Company, Ladyface Ale Companie, Casa Agria Specialty Ales, and Telegraph Brewing Company. Entries were judged on style, aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel, and overall impression. The judges’ decisions awarded the winner – Enegren Brewing Company for its “Maibock,” brew – along with two Honorable Mentions to MadeWest Brewing Company for its IPA, and to The Lab Brewing Company for its Russian Imperial Stout.

Enegren Brewing Company will receive the first place “Best in Fest” prize on the main stage during the Wine, Food & Brew Festival on June 4th. The winning Maibock brew will also be paired with one course at the 4th annual Yummie Top Chef Dinner, a 7-course feast and $200 per person event taking place two nights prior to the Festival on June 2nd.

The Wine, Food & Brew Festival itself will take place on Sunday, June 4th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at California State University Channel Islands and will feature more than 75 restaurants and 150 wines, brews, and beverages. Live entertainment, an extensive silent auction, and the Yummie culinary competition will round out the exciting events of the day.
