“Celebration” Statue Given to the Children of Casa Pacifica
Camarillo, CA May 7, 2018– The Tesoro family continued their tradition of bringing beautiful art to the children of Casa Pacifica. Recently, they gifted the Camarillo campus with a bronze statue of a little girl named Celebration by the famed sculptor De L’Esprie. The statue joins another bronzed statue gifted by the Tesoro family in November 2002, Territorial Dispute, which features three detailed bald eagles. Anthony Tesoro wanted to give the children at Casa Pacifica the opportunity to learn an appreciation for art, as he did during his childhood.
The Celebration statue is one of only 50 made by the artist De L’Esprie. The one at Casa Pacifica is number 27. De L’Esprie, a classically trained artist, is one of the few living sculptors to be honored by the Laguna Pageant of the Masters. Mayor Tom Bradley also honored her for her contribution to the Arts in Los Angeles.
Territorial Dispute, also comes from a set of only 50 – number 46 resides at Casa Pacifica. The artist, J. Chester Armstrong is a world renowned sculptor famous for the movement and power he gives to animals in his work. Dave Spellerberg commissioned Territorial Dispute in 1987 for the National Heritage Collectors Society, which later became Great American Bronze Works, Inc. Located in Westlake Village, Great American Bronze Works gave Dave more time to create new bronze sculptures, as well as the opportunity to work with various sculptors to create their bronze art, including De L’Esprie’s Celebration.
