The Camarillo Rotary Clubs’ 28th Annual Care for Kids Golf Classic Moves Forward With Pandemic Modifications
Camarillo, CA – The 28th Annual Care for Kids Golf Classic will take place on Monday, September 28th at Spanish Hills Country Club. Limited spots available – to register visit casapacifica.org. Funds raised benefit Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families and its programs serving foster and at-risk youth, along with other Rotary Foundation charities.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, tournament organizers have modified the schedule of events, foregoing cocktail hour and the traditional sit-down dinner following the round of golf – exchanging it for a Wood Ranch gift card, online silent auction, and handing out awards over Facebook live.
Non-golfers can support the tournament through browsing and bidding on their online silent auction at www.hope4kids.givesmart.com. The auction will be live Friday, September 25th at 9 AM through Monday, September 28th at 5 PM.
This year’s tournament, hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Camarillo, will be honoring Kevin Nunn, tournament co-chair since 2014, longtime Camarillo Rotarian, and Casa Pacifica volunteer and donor.
Advanced Motion Controls is returning as the tournament’s Title Sponsor. Other tournament sponsors include: Benefactors: Philip Morrison of Engel & Volkers, the Zaruka Family ; Patrons: Coastal Sign Shop/Trophies Etc., Fence Factory, Ford of Ventura, Harrison Trash Industries, Potts Dental, Store Safe, Trans-Pro Logistics; Friends: 8th Devil Distributing, Al Lowe Construction, Applebee’s of Camarillo, Canteen Vending, Churchill Valencia – Re/Max Gold Coast Realtors, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Elise & Bill Kearney, McDonald’s, Old Oaks Cigar Company, Opolo Vineyards, The Sleep Shoppe, Valenzano Insurance.
The Care for Kids Golf Classic is one of Ventura County’s longest running charity golf tournaments and has raised more than $1.6 million for Casa Pacifica and other local charities during its 28-year run.
Tournament Co-chair Kevin Estes commented on the importance of the tournament, especially this year, “With the cancellation of Casa Pacifica’s Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival, this is the only in-person fundraising event that people can actually participate in. Even with the changes we’ve had to make, it’s still going to be the same fun tournament it’s always been. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and golfing for a great cause!”
The tournament will be a modified Texas Scramble format and will crown winners in gross and low-net flights via Facebook live immediately following the golfing. Several on-course competitions including longest drive and closest to the hole contests boast fabulous prizes – including cars and cash. Tournament favorite “Demolition Derby” pits golfers against each other – all putting at the same time for a position closest to the hole, the winner receives a coveted pair of tickets to next year’s award-winning 28th Annual Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival on June 6th, 2021. The tournament, known for its plentiful food and drinks sprinkled throughout the course – Mister Softee, margaritas, shaved ice, and draft beer, will keep players happily golfing through the afternoon. On-course lunch will be provided by Ameci’s Pizza Kitchen in Camarillo.
