“Best Brew” Crowned at Casa Pacifica’s 8th Annual Best in Fest Brewery Competition
Ventura, CA – Sunday, August 22nd at Barrelhouse 101, judges for Casa Pacifica’s 8th Annual Best in Fest Brewery Competition chose their winner. Pedals and Pints took home the top prize for their Single Speed American Light Lager. Firestone Walker’s Mind Haze and Twisted Oak Tavern’s Take Her Home Belgian Tripel earned honorable mentions.
Judge’s blind tasted eleven brews based on style, aroma, appearance, flavor, mouth feel, and overall impression. The esteemed panel of judges included: Kevin Pratt, the nation’s second highest ranked beer judge; Jason Hendrick, Outside Sales Representative at The Chefs’ Warehouse; and Thomas Welsh, Barrelhouse 101 Bar Manager.
The breweries vying for the title were: Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Enegren Brewing Company, Flat Fish Brewing Co., Institution Ale Company, Ojai Valley Brewery, Petals and Pints, Poseidon Brewery Company, Rincon Brewery, Tarantula Hill Brewing Company, Transmission Brewery, Twisted Oak Tavern.
All eleven brews from the Competition will be available for tasting at the 28th Annual Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival on Sunday, September 26th at CSU Channel Islands. The Festival main stage is also where Pedals and Pints will be officially crowned Best in Fest winner. Get your tickets to the Festival at www.cpwinefoodbrewfest.com.
