More than 100 families to be provided fixings for Thanksgiving meals through generous donations to Casa Pacifica

Camarillo, CA November 15, 2017 – Through the kindness and generous hearts of several local businesses, their employees and labor organizations, nearly 100 turkeys, some with all the trimmings will be provided for Casa Pacifica families in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. On Friday, November 17, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters will deliver 10 turkeys to Casa Pacifica’s campus, which will be deliciously prepared for the on-campus Thanksgiving celebration with the youth. Then, on Monday, November 20 at 2 p.m. Aera Energy employees will assemble complete Thanksgiving meals for more than 50 families. And, sometime also on Monday, Golden State Water will deliver another 52 turkeys for Casa Pacifica families.

For Aera Energy’s donation of complete Thanksgiving meals, Produce Available, a Casa Pacifica supporter, will donate their employees and a refrigerated truck to pick up Aera’s donation and deliver to Casa Pacifica. The donation includes all the fixings to complete the meal box for the each of the families donated by Aera Energy employees. The boxes include canned and dry goods (flour, canned yams, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, etc.) along with an aluminum turkey roasting pan and pie pan. Aera then tops off each box with bread, fresh vegetables and whipped topping for the pumpkin pie! On Monday afternoon Aera Energy employees will assemble the boxes, assisted by some of the families who will be recipients of the meals. “We’re excited to support this program for a second year” said Michele Newell, Aera Energy spokesperson. “Through the generosity of our employees, we far surpassed our goal of providing meals to 40 families. Giving to the community through charitable causes and employee involvement are a focus for Aera – it’s part of what we’re founded upon, it’s in our DNA .”

Also on Monday, Golden State Water Company will deliver its 52 turkeys as part of its partnership with elected officials and community leaders throughout the state in Operation Gobble – an effort to distribute 8,000 turkeys to families in need in November. “We appreciate Casa Pacifica’s dedication to serving the community, and are proud of this partnership that will provide holiday meals for local families with limited resources,” said Ronald Moore, Golden State Water’s Operation Gobble project leader. “Operation Gobble has been a Golden State Water tradition for 27 years, and we have partnered with elected officials and community leaders to distribute more than 224,000 turkeys since the program’s inception.”

In addition to Aera Energy’s preparation to provide all the Thanksgiving dinner fixings for its 40+ families, Casa Pacifica’s Angels auxiliary group will be collecting all the extras for approximately 20 Casa Pacifica families who have requested complete meals and not just turkeys alone.

After the big turkey drop off and organizing day, Casa Pacifica’s employees will spend the next two days delivering the Thanksgiving dinners to the families, which include Casa Pacifica alumni and their families, young adults in the agency’s Transitional Youth Services program who live in the community, and families receiving Casa Pacifica’s community-based services.
