This year, on the 27th of November, participants worldwide will be set into action and give back to their communities. #GivingTuesday is more than just a date on the calendar. It’s a movement.
Now in its 7th year, #GivingTuesday uses the power of social media and collaboration to bring together ideas, events, and opportunities for philanthropy. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday encourages a switch in focus from consumerism to thinking and doing for others, by volunteering, sharing a post, or donating. #GivingTuesday also kicks-off end of year charitable giving.
Created in 2012 by a team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y #GivingTuesday has connected diverse groups of people around the values of service and giving back with the common goal of positive change in communities. Additionally, #GivingTuesday is for everyone. Anyone can be involved no matter their age or status. From influencers to business people, families and individuals have helped shape and strengthen #GivingTuesday through random acts of kindness and a commitment to care for and empower each other.
In 2017, #GivingTuesday campaigns in more than 150 countries generated 21.7 billion social media impressions and raised more than 300 million dollars online. With the ability to engage people and organizations across the globe, the effects of #GivingTuesday show no signs of slowing down. The only question is, how will you give back this #GivingTuesday?
The Casa Pacifica #GivingTuesday campaign is in full swing and there are number of fun, easy ways to get involved!
1) Be a social media champion by posting and sharing about our #GivingTuesday campaign. We’ll give you the text and visuals to use or you can share a Casa Pacifica post. Easy!
2) Place a Casa Pacifica collection can in your local business or storefront. We’ll come pick it up after #GivingTuesday.
3) Join us at our #Camarillo Campus on November 27th for tours, a fun craft and to learn more about Casa Pacifica!
