Moving Forward Together

Moving Forward Together (MFT) Services offers mental health treatment, support and case management for Ventura County parents participating in Family Reunification or Family Preservation programs. Our goal is to help parents heal from historical trauma, substance use and experiences with domestic violence – challenges that can affect healthy family functioning and long-term stability.

We believe in building a lasting village of support that continues to stand beside families long after treatment ends and Child Welfare supervision has closed.

How it Works

Our short-term, in-home therapeutic services combine individual, couples and family therapy to help restore parent-child relationships in a safe, supportive environment. Services include:

  • In-home therapy tailored to parents’ unique needs
  • Peer Partner support from individuals with lived experience
  • Parenting support groups (virtual) for current and alumni caregivers
  • Personalized resource linkage to connect families with community support

Who is Eligible:

Ventura County parents who are participating in Family Reunification or Family Preservation programs.

Our Approach:

Therapy incorporates psychoeducation on the effects of unresolved trauma, domestic violence and substance use, alongside skill-building tools drawn from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

By combining evidence-based practices with compassion, we help families strengthen relationships and stay together.

Parenting Support Groups:

We embrace the adage that “it takes a village” to raise a child. Our virtual support groups give both current and former parents a safe space to share experiences, learn new strategies, and stay connected to a community that understands.
