Editor’s Note: Chief Executive Officer Steve Elson received this letter from a former Casa Pacifica resident
Hi! my name is Kelly. I was once taken in by Casa Pacifica! And I did not like it very much at the time because I was 8 the FIRST time I went to Casa Pacifica. And the next time I was 9. I just recently got discharged. I am now with family. But I thought Casa (my first time) was just trying to take me and punish me because I did not have such a good time there.
But then the 2nd time I went there it was for 7 months so I really got used to life there. It seemed like I had been there for years. But then I realized that you guys are trying to help all the children that are abused physically and emotionally or their parent(s) were doing drugs or something like that. I had a couple of break downs at Casa. . . but I know that you were just trying to help me. You are doing an amazing job. I hope I can come work there when I am older. because then I will be a staff that will actually know what the kids there are going threw. I know that there are already staff that work there now that have probably gone threw that too. Well I am going to go now. But if me and you could set something up so that I can go visit there again please. I can maybe talk to some kids that are having trouble there. That’s what I do at school. I talk to kids that are going threw some of the things I am going threw!
