Medical
Services
Medical
Clinic.
| A
fully certified primary care clinic located on campus provides
ongoing health care five days a week. Staffed by a cadre of
nurses, a pediatric nurse practitioner and a pediatrician, all
children receive a full physical assessment within the first
few days of placement. |

|
When
acute or chronic health problems are identified, they are treated
immediately or referred to outside specialists such as neurologists,
endocrinologists, etc. Each child's immunization status is reviewed
and updated as needed. As a part of the ongoing process of health
improvement and health maintenance, activities revolving around
health education and patient teaching are a critical part of the
overall program. Upon discharge, a "medical passport"
accompanies each child providing comprehensive information about
their care while at Casa Pacifica and any needed follow-up action
for disease conditions or routine evaluations.
The
Medical Clinic also sees children in the foster care system who
have left Casa Pacifica and need follow-up medical care. As
the scope of medical clinic services expands, all children in Ventura
County's foster care system will be able to be seen at the clinic. For
an appointment call the Medical Clinic at 805-445-7832.
Nursing
Services.
Nurses
are on duty 16 hours a day, seven days a week to provide a health
appraisal for each new admission and immediate intervention when
needed. Nurses also handle the administration of all medications
and provide first aid and immediate medical attention/advice
as needed. The nurse practitioner is on-call 24/7 to consult with
staff about medical/health concerns.
