Typical Duties of Youth Development Staff

Youth Development Specialists take care of all activities of daily living for children. Depending on the shift, counselors generally have a caseload of 3 to 5 children, and assist the children with homework, groups and huddles, therapeutic activities, outings, behavior management, social time, hygiene prompts, etc..

Clinical Case Manager- responsible for immediate response to emergency referrals via telephone and face to face within 60 minutes, deescalating the situation, ensuring the safety of the child and others in the immediate situation and provide follow-up with the child and family within 24 hours of responding to the call. Other duties including, completing assessments regarding need for hospitalization (voluntary or 5150/5585). If hospitalization is required, has the ability to write a 5150/5585 hold, will secure a hospital bed, and arrange for transportation of the client to the hospital when necessary. Meets with supervisory team to review client’s progress, cultural diversity issues as well as discuss program problems and/or progress. Case Manager must also serve as liaison with VCBH, law enforcement and other community agencies when necessary to provide coordinated care.
Qualifications Individual must be licensed eligible MSW or MFT intern (working on hours, registered with the BBS) with a minimum of three years experience working with SED/high risk youth, doing family assessments and treatment, and behavior management. Must have strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. Must also have a valid CA driver’s license with clean driving record, proof of insurance and abide by Casa Pacifica travel policy.

Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist
Qualifications Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist is responsible for participation in the planning and implementing of one-to-one therapeutic behavioral interventions with children. Job skills include creativity and flexibility with developing and implementing behavioral treatment plans, documentation of all interventions, time management and ability to work with multiple treatment team members. This service is a non-crisis driven approach, and is typically provided to community based children within their current living environment. Without Therapeutic Behavior Specialist (TBS) services, these children would be at risk for a more restrictive level of residential care or would be unable to transition to a lower level of care. Bachelor degree required with a minimum 1- 2 years experience with severly emotionally disturbed youth. Knowledge of CBT helpful.

Clinical Supervisor: Maintains clinical oversight of Wraparound program and is responsible for planning and supervising therapeutic contact with community based families referred to Casa Pacifica through Ventura County Behavioral Health.
Qualifications CA licensed, LCSW, MFT, Ph.D., or Psy.D, registered with BBS/BOP with two years post licensure supervisory experience. Five to seven years experience working with severely emotionally disturbed adolescents doing family assessments and treatment, and behavior management; or, equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Wraparound helpful. Bilingual preferred.

Wages $60k yr + depending on experience

Hours/Schedule Per Diem: per diem staff are defined as individuals who are paid an hourly rate to cover for departmental needs (vacant shifs, call outs, extra support). Hours will vary; must be able to cover two weekend shifts a month.

Clinician, Transitional Youth. Responsible for providing and implementing clinical services and case management for transitional aged youth. Assist youth in facilitating emancipation, building relationships, parenting, employment, and education, as well as ongoing issues from abuse and neglect that marred their pasts and placed them in the foster care system.
Qualifications Preferred LCSW with at least three years experienc working with adolescents with mental health issues and the 18-21 year old population of alumni. Strong case management and crisis intervention skills are a must. Knowledge of foster care system and Special Education including the IEP process is desirable.
